Dr Barbara Parolini was born in Verona, Italy, on April 17th, 1968.
She is a vitreoretinal surgeon who exercises her practice, mainly in Italy, since 1997. She graduated in Italy from Medical School with laude in 1993 and obtained the diploma in Ophthalmology in 1997.
She has undertaken a postdoctoral fellowship at UCSF (San Francisco, USA) and at UMDNJ (Newark, USA), on retinal pigment epithelium transplantation in 1994-1995 and 1997-1998.
She has been Director of Clinical Studies for FDA for the Medjet Company, in Edison USA, in 1997-1998.
She works as consultant in foreign countries.
Her expertise are complex cases of submacular surgery, diabetic retinopathy and high myopia, as well as eye reconstruction after trauma.
She has operated about 15000 cases, mainly vitreoretinal cases as well as cataract , cornea, glaucoma and refractive surgery (phakic lenses and excimer laser).
She has published 70 peer-reviewed manuscripts, 5 Book Chapters and one Ebook on Vitreoretinal Techniques (released in 2018) for surgical training.
She is tutor of Bremen EVRS VitreoRetinal School and Thessaloniky VitreoRetinal School.
She has performed live surgery in Italy and abroad. Of note, at the Frankfurt Retina Meeting, at the Portuguese VR Society, and Floretina 2019.
